Hey You - Pink Floyd

Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, don’t help them to bury the light
Don’t give in without a fight

Hey you out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I’m coming home

But it was only fantasy
The wall was too high
As you can see
No matter how he tried
He could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain

Hey you, out there on the road
Always doing what you’re told
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall
Breaking bottles in the hall
Can you help me?
Hey you, don’t tell me there’s no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall

Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It’s fun to lose and to pretend
She’s overboard, self assured
Oh no I know, a dirty word

Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3]
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an Albino
A mosquito, my libido, yeah

Hey, yay

I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift, I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3]
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an Albino
A mosquito, my libido, yeah

Hey, yay

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3]
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an Albino
A mosquito, my libido

Story time

Okay, so I had a crazy super detailed dream last night, and I’m going to go over it how I remember it.

It all started with my walking with some guy, I knew them really well in the dream, and we got a long really well, that’s why I say I think I knew him, though now that I’m awake, he’s not familiar at all, okay now, back to the dream

Me and this dude are walking, in a familiar place, not sure where, I think it was either in front of a hotel, or at the International Plaza (Tampa, you know, cause I live a few miles north of there, like, 2-4 miles.) I’m not 100% sure where we were, but I knew the place

Me and him are talking, and he says he knows how to make someone who is oblivious to you, or who even hates you, be almost best friends with you in less than an hour, so, though I was dreaming, I was still like, dude, that’s bullshit no you can’t

So we walk up to 2 girls, all I can remember was one was a blonde and one had black hair, and they were both wearing black shirts, don’t really remember anything else about them

And as most girls that are 18-20 would react, they were sort of rude, but even in real life, that’s understandable, because 2 random ass guys were talking to them

That’s when my friend (friend?) started talking to them, and introducing himself and I, while they were trying to avoid him, but he wasn’t really adressing them, just sort of loudly saying things in their direction, not yelling, just speaking loudly

Then eventually, when the girls realized we weren’t hitting on them, and he was just trying to make conversation, they stopped, and they asked why he was being so abnoxious, and he told them the same thing he told me, that he could make anyone friends with anyone

So, like normal humans, they were like, dude, no fucking way, shut up, but they were intrigued, so he’s rambling, telling them stuff, asking them stuff, then we all just kind of talked about random stuff, you know the kind of weird crap young adults talk about (but not stuff I normally would even think of talking about)

So me, the guy, and the 2 girls are suddenly at my house, I don’t remember if we drove there, or if we walked there, or what, I’m presuming that we walked, because both of the girls had wet clothes and wet hair, nothing obscene was showing, other than those folds even fit people get when they arch their back sitting, and I had my shirt off

So we’re all talking, sitting on my bathroom floor (we’re sitting in my bathroom, that’s where we sat for some reason when we got to my house, and I’m near the door, the girls are in front of me, and the guy is behind them

So we’re all talking for a few hours, my sister her boyfriend, and my parents aren’t home at any point, and we’re talking, and I’m noticing that I’m catching feelings for the black haired girl this whole time, but not announcing anything to anyone about it

So later on, we’re all sort of shuffling around, like we’re getting ready to leave, well, them, because I live at my house

And the black haired girl and I are talking, and I’m begging her not to leave yet, because I want to hang out with her (at some point in the dream, I learned their names, but I don’t remember shit)

She tells me she thinks I’m cool, but she wants to wait until I join the army (this is just one of those weird dream things, even though I’m probrobly going to join the Nat'l Guard, and the mechanics post closest to me is only like a quarter mile away, so that’s handy)

So I’m, like, begging this girl to stay, and she writes something on my mirror, don’t recall what, but it was something, and she touches my chest (remember I’m shirtless, I suppose that’s not important, but still), then both of the girls leave, and then it’s, like, some long period of time later, not sure how long, my guess is a couple of years

And I remember me and the guy are walking through a foggy, sort of dilapidated neighborhood, sort of like the one across from my best friend’s apartments, but the houses are farther apart, imagine it like some island nation, hispanic neighborhood, sorta foggy (imagine a run down hispanic neighborhood in egypt lake/leto florida, with the houses farther apart, but the style of some of the houses is sorta like old east tampa)

Then we’re talking, and appearently, me and him are still friends with these girls, so we’re talking about the blonde one, and I’m happily anticipating talking to the black haired girl, and we walk up to the black haired girl’s house, and I knock on the door, or my buddy does, idfk, someone knocked on the door

She comes out, I tell her I enlisted, she tells me to wait outside for a moment, she leaves the door open, and walks away, inside of her house (obviously, she isn’t walking to fucking Burger King)

So me and my buddy are standing there, on her porch, with a white painted little guard rail, then all of the sudden, boom, me and the guy sitting outside of some random house down by a creek, and there’s an open garbage bag, like ripped open, I walk up to it, and there’s a 1 gallon milk jug with a face cut into it, or maybe melted into it, like those creepy electric banks, you know the ones, then boom, I woke up, at like 4 or 5 in the morning.

The dream ended there, like that, and I’ve been thinking about it since I was forced to wake up again at 6:45

Little Pink Houses - John Mellancamp

There’s a black man with a black cat
Living in a black neighborhood
He’s got an interstate running’ through his front yard
You know, he thinks, he’s got it so good
And there’s a woman in the kitchen cleaning’ up evening slop
And he looks at her and says:
“Hey darling, I can remember when you could starve a flower”

Oh but ain’t that America, for you and me
Ain’t that America, we’re something to see baby
Ain’t that America, home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses for you and me, oh for you and me

Well there’s a young man in a T-shirt
Listenin’ to a rock ‘n’ roll station
He’s got a greasy hair, greasy smile
He says: “Lord, this must be my destination”
‘Cause they told me, when I was younger
Sayin’ “Boy, you’re gonna be president”
But just like everything else, those old crazy dreams
Just kinda came and went

Oh but ain’t that America, for you and me
Ain’t that America, we’re something to see baby
Ain’t that America, home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses, for you and me, oh baby for you and me

Well there’s people and more people
What do they know, know, know
Go to work in some high rise
And vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico
Ooo yeah

And there’s winners, and there’s losers
But they ain’t no big deal
'Cause the simple man baby pays the thrills,
The bills and the pills that kill

Oh but ain’t that America, for you and me
Ain’t that America, we’re something to see baby
Ain’t that America, home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses for you and me, ooo, ooo yeah

Ain’t that America, for you and me
Ain’t that America, hey we’re something to see baby
Ain’t that America, oh the home of the free,
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Little pink houses babe for you and me, ooo yeah ooo yeah
