10 greatest/most influential rifles of all time
1. Kalashnikova (aka Kalashnikov) pattern rifles, they’re rugged, easy to produce, cheap, they almost never jam, and they’ve been produced ever since their first military designation (AK47 and prototypes)
2. M16 pattern rifles, designed by Eugene Stoner in the 1950s, originally thought to be obscure, now these AR stoner pattern rifles and the M4s have been produced more than any other rifle excluding the Kalashnikov pattern rifles (fun fact, the term AR stands for Armalite Rifle, not Assault Rifle)
3. Mauser Model 98, a great sporting gun/ military firearm, known for it’s bolt, accuracy, and usage in WWI and WWII
4. M1 John C. Garand pattern rifles, the first military semi-auto rifle, great rifle.
5. M1891-M44 Nagant rifles, these rifles were often preffered by Nazi snipers for thier accuracy in battle, the Mosin Nagant is also up there with Stoner’s ARs, and Kalashnikov’s AKs on mfg. numbers
6. Enfield MLE/SMLE, what else do I need to say?
7. StG44, the first combat assault rifle, and this one’s name actually means assault rifle (Sturm Gewehr, Assault Rifle)
8. M14/M1A better weapon of war than the M1, but not a better rifle
9. M1918 BAR, the first decent LMG, designed by the one and only John Moses Browning
10. Simonov SKS and some variants, these rifles shoot a standard 7.62x39 like a Kalashnikov, and they are fed with a 10 round attached box magazine from the factory
BONUS: The Chauchat, a shitty gun, but a damn good beatin’-Stick
